Who We Are
I started Mens Review Lab because I WAS SICK of seeing all the Men’s cologne reviews that sounded like they were from a corny 90’s commercial.
My name is Tyler , and I’ve been testing men’s colognes for over 17 years now not by reading marketing blurbs, but by actually wearing them in real life. My journey started back in high school with a bottle of Sean Jean Unforgivable, given to me by my aunt who was a men’s cologne salesperson. I didn’t know much about fragrance at the time, but I loved how it made me feel more confident.
Since then, I have reviewed over 100+ Men’s colognes from the $300+ Creed Aventus to budget colognes like Nautica Voyage. I’ve worn them to work, on dates, in the gym, around the house, and even outdoors. Along the way, I’ve learned which colognes CREATE compliments, which ones last all day, and which ones are overhyped and overpriced.
Men’s Review Lab exists for one simple reason: to give guys straightforward, experience-based reviews. Every fragrance here is tested by me, worn in real situations, and judged on how it actually PERFORMS not just how it’s advertised. No sponsorships, no free products, and no marketing pressure.
How We Test
Cologne can be subjective, and is very much personal. However, I have CREATED a objective testing system that gives the best scores for you to find the exact cologne that is right for YOU – not me.
Scent Profile – How does it smell? What are notes? Woody? Spicy? Fresh? Somewhere in between?
Longevity – Does it last two hours or ten? How many sprays do you need?
Projection – Will people notice it across the room, or is it more subtle and close to the skin?
Versatility – Can you wear it to work, on a date, and at the gym, or is it best saved for special occasions?
Compliment Factor – Do people around me notice it, and if so, what do they say? Is it overpowering?
Value – Is it worth the price, or are you paying for hype?
Every cologne I review goes through real-life testing not just a spray on a thin paper strip with my thoughts.
